Golden Globe Awards

The nominations were announced for the 81st Golden Globe Awards. The list of nominations includes five films that premiered at the 80th Venice International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia: Io capitano by Matteo Garrone, Maestro by Bradley Cooper, Poor Things by Yorgos Lanthimos, Priscilla by Sofia Coppola, Society of the Snow by J.A. Bayona, scoring 14 nominations overall.

Nominations

Seven nominations were earned by the film that won the Golden Lion at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, Poor Things by Yorgos Lanthimos: Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, Best Director, Best Screenplay (Tony McNamara), Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy (Emma Stone), Best Supporting Actors (Willem Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo), Best Original Score (Jerskin Fendrix).

Maestro by Bradley Cooper, in competition at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, won four Golden Globe nominations: Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director Motion Picture, Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture Drama (Bradley Cooper), Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture  Drama (Carey Mulligan).

Io capitano by Matteo Garrone, Silver Lion for Best Director at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, won a nomination as Best Motion Picture Non-English Language.

Two other films presented at the 80th Venice International Film Festival also won one nomination each: Priscilla by Sofia Coppola as Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Drama, Cailee Spaeny, and Society of the Snow by J.A. Bayona, as Best Motion Picture Non-English Language.
